St Lukes The Woodlands Hospital

This is St Luke's Health the Woodlands Hospital near I-45, north of Houston. It has gone through many construction cycles, and renovations and alterations continue from time to time.

The front of the hospital included an attached awning which allows for easier navigating and waiting outside during hot days and rainy weather. The building has massive HVAC systems to keep the large spaces cool during Texas summer heat.

There are massive dumpsters on the rightside for the large amount of waste created running a hospital system. Unlike many hospitals, it has a massive circle driveway which is very convenient for drop offs and pickups of patients with different medical issues.

The back of St Luke's Hospital of the Woodlands sits at the corner of 242 and interstate 45. It's a sprawling hospital with views of the water end to end. The lake includes a walking path around it. This was built in 2003 and contains 84 hospital beds. It has a thin layer of trees allowed to remain between the back of the hospital and the lake, creating some shade and privacy.

In that center area, on the right side, is a first floor cafeteria. On the left side is a small gazebo made of similar construction materials where you can overlook the lake. This building has massive HVAC systems to help with cooling. There's also a helicopter landing pad nearby to the right of this, but it's further off and way into a corner to create space from other activities.

The ground is built up fairly high with a massive concrete foundation on that, as the hospital sits very close to that water. There are some large rocks on the narrow grassy area between the building and lake.

This curved building with concrete columns and a massive outdoor patio is the back of St. Luke's Lakeside Hospital. The entire first floor is essentially a patio under a building. The curve of the building matches roughly the curve of the lake it faces.

This hospital costs around $28.5m to build and it has 30 inpatient beds and 6 operating rooms. Expert structural engineering was necessary to achieve this construction in a safe way.
