Sherrie James In Houston Tells Her Story About a Famous Meteorite That Crashed Through The Roof

Meteorite survivor Sherrie James Tells the Story about March 21, 2026 when a heavy space rock crashed into her daughters bedroom through the roof

Sherrie James had a meteorite crash through the roof of her Houston home in March 2026. The space rock went through the roof, then the ceiling, and into her daughters bedroom. Sherrie told me the famous story of the hammerfall. I then asked her questions and examined the famous meteorite.

In this photo, Sherrie points to her roof as she tells the story of the alarming crash. She was feeling thankful that everyone was okay, and said her grandson was scouring the attic to try and find more lost space rocks. She planned to keep the meteorite, atleast for a while, though she had plenty of interest from media, scientists, and meteorite hunters. NASA and Rice University were among the people attempting to talk to the Houston woman about her precious treasure.

This is a close view of the scratched fusion crust of the meteorite which went through Sherrie James Roof in March 2026

This is the meteorite that landed in Sherrie James' second story bedroom. I was amazed that everyone was okay. It was her, her daughter, and grandson that were in the home when the meteorite came crashing in. It turned out to be a chondrite that's over 4.5 billion years old. It could be from as far away as Jupiter, which is the fifth planet from our helpful sun. That's a long way to travel for this space rock, because Jupiter is over 440 million miles away from Earth.

If you look closely, you can see the long scratches outside the fusion crust, which indicate the speed and force as the meteorite tore through Sherrie's home. Building materials like sheetrock are stuck and molded onto the rock. Some experts recommend to keep that intact, for history and because collectors enjoy the lore.
