Striking Royal Python Known as the Ball Python
This striking looking snake is the Royal Python. Depending on your region,
you may know it as the Ball Python.
Its species is the Python regius and it's a heavy bodied snake with beige blotches.
They're not venemous, they're constrictors instead.
That's how they trap their food. Royal pythons eat mostly quail, chicks and mice.
They originate in Africa where they've lived in the grasslands and forests for many millenniums,
but there existence wasn't recorded until the year of 1802.
They can get to be six feet in length which is small compared to some Python species.
The colors of a Royal python gives you a hint about how they got their name.
They're stunning to look at, though most people aren't very fond of snakes.
They're amazing and that's why they're actually a favorite species of snake for pet owners.
Being nonvenemous and beautiful makes them a better choice for some people.
The oldest known Royal Python lived to be 62 years old, in captivity in the zoo in Saint Louis, Missouri.
