Closeup of a Famous Meteorite That Crashed Into a Houston Home Thru Its Roof In March 2026

This is a closeup of the famous space rock that crashed through the roof of Sherrie James' Houston home in 2026. She showed me the dark fusion crust that formed as the flaming meteorite made entry into Earth's atmosphere.

It's amazing that nobody was hurt when it came through. Sherrie, her daughter, and her grandson were all in the home on March 21, 2026 when it happened. It ended up landing in her daughter's bedroom after piercing through the ceiling, bouncing off the floor with great damage, then bouncing back up to the ceiling causing more damage. Then it finally fell back down with a thud and sheetrock dust next to the bed and dresser.

The meteorite crash triggered a parade of visitors including the fire department, media, scientists, and meteorite hunters. The chondrite is estimated to be over 4.5 billion years old, and from the asteroid belt between Mars and the fifth planet from the sun, Jupiter.

Sherrie also showed me the sheetrock and other building materials which were stuck to the space rock, from when it came through the ceiling at high rates of speed. Space scientists estimate the meteorite was traveling over 35,000mph when it hit Sherrie's roof. That's over eight times faster than a bullet. Learn more about the famous meteorite crash.
