More Knights, Spiders, and Crying in Lucas the Game 2 for Html5 and Mobile

There may be more knights, spiders, and crying in an all new html5 version of Lucas the Game.
Here's some information about Lucas the Game 2 for html5 and mobile.

Several people have contacted me recently about Lucas the Game. It's a PC game published in 2015, and was also widely distributed in a popular Groupees bundle at the time. The game became notable as the first ever published video game to use GIMP to make all the art, and started the 'Made in Gimp' movement. That history has now been widely written about in many great countries and languages.

So I had a few people reach out to me with different interests recently. First, and this may be a surprise, but I lost the project files from the game engine and also all the code I wrote. You may have heard me talk about this before, but basically I had an external harddrive fail a good while back, that I trusted way too much, and I lost a lot of saved files. I lost thousands of photos that would be in my photography portfolio right now, half a documentary I was producing, and more. I still have most of the art from LTG 1 though, and the actual final DRM-free game. I couldn't even lose the game if I tried, because even if I did, I could just get the game from a number of people or places, including online stores that carry it.

The only issue is the times have changed a bit. I'm even more glad now than ever that I released Lucas the Game as a DRM-free standalone app for Windows, macOS, and Linux, and it's since been converted to free-to-play. The only thing is html5 wasn't nearly as big of a thing back in 2015 as it is now. There were browser games, especially flash, but they weren't nearly as efficient or full-fledged games. That's changed now, and html5 browser games are big time nowadays.

Someone who recently contacted me, who's in charge of production for a very popular game store asked me to work with them on getting Lucas the Game onto that store as an html5 game. I love that, but there's the issue above. So unfortunately, I would essentially have to do a full remake to have a browser version like that for any browser game store. I'd literally have to program the entire game from scratch, and I'm sure I'd use a different game engine too. Even the art, I know I'd like to redo as the art I do now is different and naturally better due to thousands of additional hours of practice. It's just not going to be practical for Lucas the Game 1.

So we're not talking about a simple port in any way whatsoever. What we're talking about is Lucas the Game 2 for browser and mobile. I love it too. I'd fix the things that have bothered me about that game for a long time. The only downer is I don't have time to make Lucas the Game 2 right now. I can see that changing, but I'm currently working on another game, that I haven't said much publicly about yet. It's a totally new IP, and I also have a couple other projects going on.

So if you're a programmer that just wants to program, and would like to work on it with me, email me. Let's make more knights, spiders, and crying happen for fans of this unique platformer. If I had someone to code Lucas the Game 2, I could just focus on the art and design. Meanwhile, I have to focus on the few projects I have going on, and make sure they turn out the way they should. I'm also going to be creating another page soon for the people who are still interested in Lucas the Game 1, It's going to be packed with artwork and stuff, that was never publicly available before. Once, I create that page, I'll post the link here so stay tuned. Cheers
