Patas Monkey Or Erythrocebus Sitting In Grassland
This is a Patas Monkey, sitting and resting in a beautiful grassland habitat.
This species is the Erythrocebus also sometimes called the Hussar monkey.
These monkeys can run up to 30mph, making them the world's fastest primates.
Many monkeys like to spend their time up in trees,
but the Patas monkey is happy to be in tall grass, like this one is hanging out in.
They have long fangs and can be aggressive.
This one was having a great time when I saw him, happy to be alone in very tall grass.
He was very alert and interested in what I was doing.
They usually weigh under 30lbs.
These monkeys have long limbs and can sometimes live to be 20 years old in their natural environment.
