OFFICIAL BLOG OF TIMOTHY COURTNEY

THE BLOG IS BACK, POSSIBLE NEW GAME
[Published 09-27-2025]

Welcome.
It has been a long time since I made a blog post. My old blog is not active anymore,
so I'm going to continue it here, and this is officially the revival post.
Interestingly, I found my old blog posts on Wayback Machine, which is now called Internet Archive.
That's a solid name change right there.
Anyway, I was able to read some of my old blog posts.
The internet archive is precious at preserving history.
It's surprising they seem to be the only organization effectively doing that.

Bee with a Key Game Art

Life has been very busy lately for the past few years.
Even though I wasn't as active online, I stayed very active offline, especially with my photography.
I have thousands and thousands of photos and videos that I'm starting to go through and edit.
I'm not sure yet which one's I'll be publishing here on TimothyCourtneyMedia.com.
Stay tuned, because within the next year I plan to publish a lot of them.
It's going to take time to edit them, but I'm working on it.

Here's something else that is going on...
I've been mulling the idea of making a new video game.
The new game is something I've thought about for a while,
and recently I completed the game design in my head atleast.
This game isn't like my other games. It's something quite different.
The idea of this game is so different for me that I think it'll
be worth it for me to dedicate the time to work on it.

Of course, I'm going to continue using Gimp for all the video game art.
If you don't know, I made the first published video game
that used Gimp for all the art, called Lucas the Game in 2015.
I love Gimp, ever since my Linux days.
I'm not changing from that, so I'll be making all the sprites using Gimp.

For the game engine, I've decided to make a change.
On my last games, I used Unity Engine.
I think I used the Unity language to program Lucas the Game.
For Space Ace Assassin, if I remember correctly,
I programmed it in C#.
But for this new game, I've been checking out Game Maker.
Game Maker is more of a 2D game engine and I've wanted
to try it for a long time. Now, I'll get a chance to see how I like it.

Well, I think that's about all I should say for now,
because it's so early. I just downloaded Game Maker.
I've opened the program several times so far,
and I've been scoping it all out. It seems pretty robust.
I had got the impression from listening to some people
that it was a really easy to use game engine.
I'm not really seeing the easy anywhere, but
I'll let you know how that goes.

I need to get some sprites into there and start a room.
Once I do that, I might be hooked.
